Happy holidays from Volunteer Connection.
Our board at United Way of the Greater Dayton Area were out in force on Saturday, November 19th, to help our partners at Miami Valley Meals as they assembled family-sized Thanksgiving dinners. These meals were able to be shared with approximately 8000 Dayton residents. Our board members had a chance to get to know the operation, and give a part of their weekend to a great cause. We want to thank to Miami Valley Meals for the opportunity.
The Holidays are a wonderful and rewarding time to volunteer. As a volunteer coordinator, I want to also make this suggestion that I bring up annually. While there is need at the holidays (and by all means, participate!), it more often happens that the time when our friends at agencies need assistance is some seemingly generic Thursday in, say, March. Think about gathering the family to have a service opportunity at some non-holiday time, in addition to the standard holiday dates. Your favorite non-profit will appreciate it!
Have a great holiday season, and onward to ’23!
